Teaching and Practicing Trauma-Informed Yoga: Tools for Empowering Healing with René Quenell

Saturday/Sunday, May 17-18 , 2-6 pm
In-Studio Only

This workshop is designed for individuals of all backgrounds and abilities, offering a safe, inclusive space to reconnect with your body and mind.  For students and teachers, yoga instructors, mental health professionals, or anyone interested in learning how yoga can help to create a safe, supportive environment for anyone affected by trauma.

Dive into the principles of trauma-informed care and discover how to use gentle movement, breathwork, and mindful presence. Learn techniques to release stored tension, cultivate self-compassion, and foster emotional resilience. Whether you're new to yoga or an experienced practitioner, this workshop will equip you with tools to support your healing journey, grounded in a trauma-sensitive approach that honors your unique experience. Embrace your body's wisdom and take the first step towards holistic well-being in a supportive, non-judgmental environment.

Teachers can learn to adapt their teaching style to meet the needs of individuals who may have experienced trauma. Through mindful adjustments, language, and compassionate practice, you’ll learn how to foster a space of safety and empowerment. We’ll explore techniques to build trust, offer choice, and support nervous system regulation, all while staying grounded in your own practice.

Whether you’re new to trauma-informed teaching or seeking to deepen your knowledge, this workshop will provide you with the tools to create a healing, inclusive experience for all.

· Creates a sense of safety and control by offering autonomy in practice and fostering a supportive environment.

· Regulates the nervous system by shifting from a "fight-or-flight" state to a calmer, more grounded state

· Enhances body awareness and reconnection by promoting mindfulness and helping individuals re-engage with their bodies.

· Supports emotional release by encouraging the processing of stored emotions and trauma held in the body.

· Improves grounding and mindfulness through focus on the breath, body sensations, and present-moment awareness.

· Encourages compassionate self-care by promoting a non-judgmental and gentle approach to movement and self-exploration.

· Facilitates healing from PTSD by reducing symptoms like anxiety, depression, and intrusive thoughts.

· Fosters a sense of community through group settings that provide support, connection, and shared healing experiences.

· Improves overall physical health by increasing flexibility, strength, and releasing physical tension.

· Promotes emotional resilience by providing tools to cope with stress, anxiety, and trauma triggers in a safe way.
